This jail features a "lazy Susan" design which makes the jail block round and the cells form individual wedges like slices in a pie. There is only one door that leads into the cells and it would be rotated by a hand crank to let prisoners in and out. This location is unique, being that it is the only three story wheel jail ever built. The wheel mechanism no longer operates but the location is now a museum and is rumored to be haunted by a former jailer.

  • Been there, Not viable. . .

    My Team and I investigated this place in the late 2000's. We brought with us a DVR system, EMF detectors, audio recorders, digital thermometers, the works. The first obstacle that we ran into was that the building is one giant acoustic drum, therefore audio is undependable. Secondly, if you whispered on the ground floor, you could hear it at the top of the building. While the building is fascinating and historical, I do not personally believe that it is "haunted". Having been an investigator/researcher for over 20 years, I stand by this assessment. The only occurrence that I would call paranormal that my team experienced in the ten hours that we were on site was a floating EMF reading in the library. We were unable to determine the cause.

  • Good experience, interesting evidence
